My Two Sons

My two sons call out my inner child
And we construct cloud nine
I no longer expect my father to return
I am here with waist-high men
In all life’s time
To maintain my bloodline

My two sons pitch in for childhood’s redesign
I no longer worry how my father’s inner child
Fell to his demise
I am here with whippersnappers right as rain
In all life divine
To lengthen my lifeline

My two sons journey out into the sunshine
I no longer wonder why my father cut his inner child’s strings
Before his playtime
I am here with heirs to fantasies
In all life has to define
Of dreams and fairy tale rhyme

My two sons befriend my inner child
And we enjoy fine wine from childhood’s grapevine
I no longer expect my father to return
I am here with waist-high men
In all life’s time
To maintain my bloodline
